TNA Victory Road 2024, Live from the Boeing Center at Tech Port in San Antonio, Texas. We’ll be bringing you all the action from this highly anticipated event. The Countdown To TNA Victory Road 2024 Kickoff Pre-Show opens up with Tom Hannifan and Matthew Rehwoldt welcoming us. Josh Alexander’s turn on Joe Hendry at Slammiversary made all the sense in the world. It was a swerve at the time but the follow-up explanation made complete sense – Alexander, the standard-bearer of the promotion, was furious that someone he considered a meme wrestler was more over than he’d ever been. Coming off that show, it seemed that the obvious direction was these two meeting in the Bound for Glory main event and Hendry going over. That took a swerve when Alexander lost to Nic Nemeth at Emergence last month and this match got promptly booked the following week. Coming into Victory Road, Hendry’s buzz feels the lowest it has been in months (all things have their time) and the main story around Alexander is a round of press chatter around his contract expiring early next year and him talking about testing free agency. As for this match, there seems one obvious direction. Even though it doesn’t fit with his character (but it is the only way heels can win nowadays), I suspect Alexander goes over here via foul means, leading to a rematch at Bound for Glory where Hendry gets the big babyface payoff. The crowd seems amped up from the start, as they chant for KUSHIDA. They start the match trying to tie each other down for submission and pin attempts until KUSHIDA traps on a Bow & Arrow on Leon Slater, but he quickly escapes. They start running the ropes until Slater knocks KUSHIDA down with an enziguri followed by a handspring back elbow. Slater heads to the corner but gets knocked to the outside by a handspring kick from KUSHIDA which is followed by a top rope senton to the outside. Back in the ring, they go back to working on each other with KUSHIDA targeting Slater’s arm. Slater comes right back by dodging in the corner and hitting a big dropkick for two. Slater blocks a Hoverboard Lock and puts KUSHIDA on the apron where he kicks him off with a boot but as he goes to dive, KUSHIDA gets out of the way. Despite that, Slater reaches him with a wild twisting dive from over the corner to the outside. They head to the top rope, and KUSHIDA crashes down with a Spanish Fly into the Hoverboard Lock where Slater taps out right away in a great opener.Match Card:
