Raw airs tonight (Nov. 4) with a taped show (spoilers are here) from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This is the first episode of Raw during the four week build towards Survivor Series, which takes place on November 30. It’s also the first time Raw has ever been taped in Saudi Arabia.
Tonight’s main event is a 4-way number one contender’s match where the winner earns a future shot at GUNTHER’s World heavyweight championship. The four men competing in this match are Seth Rollins, Dominik Mysterio, Sheamus, and Damian Priest. Rollins is coming off a big win over Bronson Reed at Crown Jewel. Sheamus has some momentum after defeating Ludwig Kaiser last week on Raw. Dominik Mysterio earned his way into this match with last week’s fluke win over a former world champion. Damian got here by...being the former world champion.
Gunther needs a challenger for his World Heavyweight Championship and, when he hops on a plane out of Riyadh, he will know his challenger. The two previous holders of Gunther’s title – Damian Priest and Seth Rollins – will be competing alongside former World Heavyweight and WWE Champion Sheamus and Dominik Mysterio. Although Mysterio comes into the match with the least lineage, he’ll be buoyed with confidence from beating Priest last week. Sheamus vowed never to face Gunther again after their last brutal bout but a shot at WWE Raw’s top prize is too much to turn down. On paper, it is hard to see past Priest or Rollins taking the win. With the Survivor Series taking place at the end of the month, Gunther vs. Rollins feels like the biggest match for that iconic PLE.
There’s at least some reason to think he can win this match. That’s because Seth Rollins still has Bronson breathing down his neck, Sheamus is no longer pushed at a world championship level, and Finn Balor is desperate to make sure Priest never gets his hands on the world title again. There are no disqualifications in a match like this, so anyone and everyone is allowed to interfere and screw over their enemies. It’s worth noting there is a rumor that Priest will be challenging GUNTHER for the gold next month at the return of Saturday Night’s Main Event. If you happen to put any stock into that sort of thing, then it probably makes Damian the favorite to win tonight. Priest already confronted GUNTHER a couple weeks ago and told him that he will earn a rematch and take back his belt.
