Dynamite airs tonight (Nov. 27) with a live show from Wintrust Arena in Chicago, Illinois. This is the first episode of Dynamite during the five week build towards Worlds End, which takes place on December 28.
There’s championship gold on the line tonight on Dynamite when Chris Jericho defends the ROH world title against Tomohiro Ishii. This is Jericho’s first title defense since he won the belt last month in a ladder war against Mark Briscoe. Tony Khan recently suggested that Chris Jericho’s status as ROH world champion helps the probability of the brand scoring a media rights deal, which is an idea that quite a few critics are scoffing at. The fact that Khan believes Jericho adds so much value to the ROH brand (despite not wrestling on ROH programming) makes me doubt that Ishii has much of a chance to win. While I don’t expect that Jericho is going to announce a new TV deal for ROH after tonight’s title match is over, there are plenty of critics he will certainly try to silence, and those are the ones who think Chris is washed up and can’t cut it in the ring anymore.
Jon Moxley beat Orange Cassidy and retained the AEW world championship at Full Gear. However, the world title scene is awfully crowded based on what happened after the match, when Christian Cage, Jay White, Darby Allin, and Hangman Page all got involved in Moxley’s business. Jay White has a good argument that he should be next in line to challenge Mox for the gold, given that he has victories over Hangman Page on two straight AEW pay-per-view events. However, White was the dumbest ass at Full Gear when he stopped Christian Cage from cashing in his contract for a world title match. It would be a lot easier for White to win that belt from Christian rather than having to go through Moxley and his Death Riders.
Even though Orange Cassidy asked for his allies to stay out of his match at Full Gear, The Conglomeration did eventually show up to fight off Moxley’s Death Riders at ringside. Perhaps this could lead to an AEW world trios title match between the two factions. At the very least, I expect that Marina Shafir and Willow Nightingale aren’t done punching each other in the face just yet. Swerve Strickland passed out in the all mighty grip of Bobby Lashley’s Hurt Lock at Full Gear. Mina Shirakawa thought Mariah May was the love of her life, at least until Mariah tried to break a champagne bottle over her head at Full Gear. Based on this angle, I expect Mina will be challenging May for the AEW women’s world championship at either Winter is Coming or Worlds End.
