Dynamite airs tonight (Oct. 16) with a live show from SAP Center in San Jose, California. This is the first episode of Dynamite during the six week build towards Full Gear, which takes place on November 23.
It wasn’t all that long ago when Jon Moxley declared war against the current state of AEW and indicated he’s the only guy that can do what needs to be done to fix the problem. Moxley backed up his words in a major way at WrestleDream when he defeated Bryan Danielson to become the new AEW world champion. Moxley, Wheeler Yuta, and the rest of the Blackpool Combat Club sent Danielson into retirement by once again attempting to murder him with a plastic bag after the match. Just like that, Bryan quickly became the first casualty of this strange war. The end result is that we aren’t going to see The American Dragon back in an AEW ring for a very, very long time.
The dust is still settling from that disturbing and sad ending at WrestleDream. Darby Allin and Orange Cassidy were teased as the new faces of AEW as the event came to a close. They clearly have an uphill battle on their hands when it comes to fighting off the former face of AEW, who is now once again the world champion. Cassidy might not even get involved in the BCC’s business tonight, as he is booked in an unrelated trios match. However, there’s no doubt that Darby is 100% focused on embracing his role as the new face of AEW and making Moxley pay for what he’s done. It won’t be easy for Darby to succeed, because Moxley has already demonstrated that Allin doesn’t have what it takes to beat him. With all of that in mind, Moxley is scheduled to appear on Dynamite tonight, where he’ll probably say some cryptic things about what to expect next now that he holds the top prize in AEW.
Kyle Fletcher turned on his best friend Will Ospreay at WrestleDream and cost him the AEW International title, which now belongs to to fellow Callis family member, Konosuke Takeshita. AEW Women’s World Champion Mariah May defeated Willow Nightingale at WrestleDream. Daniel Garcia put every champion in AEW on notice last week. HOOK still doesn’t know who attacked Taz, and his investigative method of standing around backstage hoping the culprits will reveal themselves hasn’t worked out.
