Dynamite airs tonight (Mar. 26) with a live show from Roy Wilkins Auditorium in St. Paul, Minnesota. This is the third episode of Dynamite during the four week build towards AEW Dynasty, which takes place on April 6.
MVP handed his business card to MJF a couple weeks ago after saying he’s lost his edge. MJF was reluctant to take the card at first, but then realized he will need some allies to take down the Death Riders and win back the AEW world championship from Jon Moxley. That leads to tonight’s episode of Dynamite, where MJF officially makes his decision to accept or reject MVP’s business offer. One glaring issue with MJF joining the Hurt Syndicate to kick off a world title push is that the group already has Bobby Lashley for that role. Lashley has never played second fiddle to anyone ever since the Hurt Business debuted in WWE several years ago. The dynamic doesn’t seem to work well if MJF is going to join the group and suddenly take over as its number one star, even if Bob is currently busy dominating the AEW tag team scene with Shelton Benjamin.
If MJF doesn’t join the Hurt Syndicate, he still needs his own faction to eventually come after the Death Riders. Perhaps MJF will set up MVP’s group for an ambush tonight if he has some new friends in the fold and they are ready to strike. Alternatively, the Hurt Syndicate could be leading MJF into a trap simply for the sake of hurting someone higher up on the card and making a statement. Thunder Rosa & AEW Women’s World Champion Toni Storm vs. Megan Bayne & Penelope Ford is advertised for tonight. AEW International Champion Kenny Omega vs. Blake Christian is also advertised for tonight. I’m pretty sure it’s a non-title match, but it doesn’t matter either way since the winner is obvious. Kyle Fletcher says his feud with Will Ospreay changed him. I guess we’ll see what that looks like when he takes on Brody King tonight. Brody is trying to bounce back after being Kazuchika Okada’s bitch at Revolution. Mark Briscoe vs. Konosuke Takeshita is booked on the card. Briscoe couldn’t even beat Mark Davis a couple weeks ago, so I don’t like his chances here against Don Callis’ number one guy. Speaking of Davis, he’s fighting Powerhouse Hobbs in a singles match tonight. These guys teamed up a couple times late last year, but that was before Don Callis and Kyle Fletcher used a contract to compel Davis to do their dirty work. Davis will surely need some help from the Murder Machines to stand a chance against Powerhouse.
