Dynamite airs tonight (Dec. 18) with a live show from Entertainment & Sports Arena in Washington, D.C. This is the fourth episode of Dynamite during the five week build towards Worlds End, which takes place on December 28.
Jon Moxley will defend the AEW world championship in a 4-way match at Worlds End against Hangman Page, Orange Cassidy, and Jay White. Those three men will team up tonight in a trios match against Moxley, PAC, and Wheeler Yuta. This is essentially an expanded follow-up to last week’s tag team match of Mox & PAC vs. Cassidy & White. That match ended in disqualification when the Hangman interfered to attack the champ. Hangman also came to blows with Cassidy and White, leaving all three men down on the mat as Moxley made his escape.
There has to be a little more intrigue tonight at Holiday Bash besides adding an extra man to each side, so perhaps it’s time for someone to finally get murdered in this comedy caper. Mox has made attempted murder a weekly habit of late, so why stop tonight? Jon could certainly use more practice at it since he has yet to be successful in his previous attempts to murder Bryan Danielson, Orange Cassidy, and maybe FTR. Speaking of FTR, they are back in their hometown of Asheville, North Carolina, after surviving last week’s kidnap attack by Moxley and his Death Riders. Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler have something to say about it at Holiday Bash.
The C2 Blue League also continues tonight with Shelton Benjamin vs. The Beast Mortos. Mortos is in the tournament to have good matches and lose, so that’s probably where this one is going too. Mortos seems to be getting over with AEW fans despite all the losses. TBS Champion Mercedes Mone puts her belt on the line tonight against Anna Jay. Mercedes plans to become a triple champion when she fights Mina Shirakawa at the Tokyo Dome at Wrestle Dynasty on January 5, but Anna can ruin that plan if she finds a way to defeat Mone tonight. HOOK and Katsuyori Shibata are teaming up to take on The Patriarchy’s Christian Cage and Nick Wayne. HOOK and Wayne are tentatively scheduled to fight each other in a singles match at the Hammerstein Ballroom over the weekend, so maybe Christian will try to injure another one of HOOK’s body parts ahead of that match. We will hear from MJF at some point during tonight’s Holiday Bash. MJF’s plan to screw over Adam Cole didn’t work last week, so now they’ll fight over his Dynamite Diamond Ring at Worlds End.
