Dynamite airs tonight (Oct. 30) with a live show from Wolstein Center in Cleveland, Ohio. This is the third episode of Dynamite during the six week build towards Full Gear, which takes place on November 23.
Shelton Benjamin kicked off his AEW career with victories over Lio Rush and Sammy Guevara, but the level of competition is much higher on tonight’s “Fright Night” episode of Dynamite when he goes one-on-one with former world champion Swerve Strickland. This match came about after Swerve rejected MVP’s business offer and told him to stick that Hurt Syndicate business card up his ass. Strickland has not wrestled since he lost against Hangman Page nearly two months ago at All Out. Well actually, there is one clear way for Shelton to go over Swerve, and that’s via interference from MVP’s longtime business partner, Bobby Lashley. The rumor mill indicates that Lashley is signed with AEW and it’s just a matter of finding the right moment for his debut.
AEW World Tag Team Champions Matthew & Nicholas Jackson defend the belts tonight against Private Party. Isiah Kassidy and Marq Quen must split up forever if they fail to beat the Young Bucks for the gold. There may actually be a title change coming our way if this is the main event of Fright Night. Kris Statlander vs. Kamille is booked on tonight’s card. Statlander will have to go through Mercedes Mone’s muscle if she wants to eventually get her hands on the TBS championship.
Adam Cole returns to the ring in a singles match against Buddy Matthews. Cole has not wrestled in more than a full year and has a cadaver’s bone in his surgically reconstructed ankle, so it will be interesting to see how he looks out there. Cole is in a race with Roderick Strong to win three matches first in order to fight MJF at Full Gear, so I don’t like Buddy’s chances in this bout. Chuck Taylor is the latest casualty in AEW World Champion Jon Moxley’s war against All Elite Wrestling. After watching his best friend get stretchered out of the arena, Orange Cassidy vowed to appear on Dynamite tonight to “take care” of it. Finally, Hangman Page has something to say after a rematch with Jay White was made official for Full Gear.
