NXT Battleground 2024 PPV 6/9/24

WWE NXT’s next premium live event, Battleground, happens Sun., June 9 at 8 p.m. Eastern. The show from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas will feature five title bouts — including ones featuring the recently signed Ethan Page and reigning TNA Knockouts champion Jordynne Grace, and more. It all streams live on Peacock here in the U.S., and internationally wherever you get WWE Network. Williams wants to be a fighting champion, and was focused on a fight with Noam Dar of the Meta-Four. But someone took Dar out, and while Trick & Dar’s teammates (including Lash Legend, who’s paused her storyline relationship with Williams to focus on another match on this card) debated who was responsible for that, former AEW wrestler Page arrived and took credit for it while attacking the champ. “All Ego” demanded NXT General Manager Ava put a title shot in his new contract, and when Trick had no objections — she did.

Geno Mrosko: I can’t imagine they take the title off Trick so early but I’m almost tempted by how good Page has looked in his brief time in the promotion. Pick: Trick Williams , Sean Rueter: No way they pull the plug on Trick’s reign this quickly, especially when All Ego has a feud lined up with a face-turned Meta-Four. Pick: Trick Williams , Claire Elizabeth:Fine fine the girl who fell in love with All Ego’s work toiling in the Evolve mines will take the bullet here. Yeah it’s hot potatoing a title that NXT never hot potatoes. Yeah Trick is on a tear and it’d be a shame to derail him. But NXT has been stale and sad for a long time and Ethan Page has done more than almost anyone to turn that around in just a few short days. He’s made for the place, he rules, and it’s time to be bold, y’all. Pick: “All Ego” Ethan Page , Marcus Benjamin: Ethan Page sounded impressive on the mic and sold his side of this thing beautifully. While he won’t win here, I hope this isn’t the last of he and Trick. But I’m sure Meta-Four has other plans for him. Pick: Trick Williams.
