This week’s episode of WWE NXT is the New Year’s Evil special. With it being the first show of the year, it’s expected that it will be action-packed, as everyone looks to get their year off to a dominant start. NXT New Year’s Evil emanates from the Shrine Expo Hall in Los Angeles, California. At time of writing, five matches have been confirmed for the show. Three of these are title matches.
At New Year’s Evil, Trick Williams defends his NXT Championship against Oba Femi and Eddy Thorpe in a triple threat match. Williams is nearing 100 days as the champion in his second reign, and he faces his greatest threat yet. Being the former NXT North American Champion, Femi is already a formidable challenger on his own. Add to that, a highly-determined Thorpe, who is ready to claim an NXT championship for himself. The stakes are so high, and Williams does not even need to be involved in the finish to lose his title.
Roxanne Perez recently got awarded the Female Superstar of the Year award at the NXT Year-End Awards. A major contributor to that is her reign as the NXT Women’s Champion, and that is under serious threat in the form of the Women’s Iron Survivor Challenger Giulia. This has been a long-awaited bout and, at New Year’s Evil, the stars will align when these two clash. With Perez and Giulia’s level of wrestling IQ, this could be the match of the night. They could share that accolade but only one of them can walk away the NXT Women’s Champion.
