Raw airs today (Mar. 31) with a live show from The O2 in London, England. This is the fifth episode of Raw during the seven week build towards WrestleMania 41, which takes place on the weekend of April 19 and 20. Today’s show will be broadcast live on Netflix at 3 pm ET, so it’s more like Monday Afternoon Raw for viewers in the United States.Today’s main event is Rhea Ripley challenging IYO SKY for the women’s world championship, with Bianca Belair as the special referee. Ripley is the biggest women’s star in WWE, but her world was turned upside down earlier this month when SKY pulled off the upset and beat her for the gold. Rhea has been desperate to get herself back into the women’s title match at WrestleMania 41, and this could be her final chance to make it happen. The extra wrinkle here is that GM Adam Pearce made Belair the special referee even though Ripley blames Bianca’s ringside presence for her title loss to SKY. The EST of WWE claims she has no idea how to be a referee, but that didn’t stop Pearce from giving her the ultimate role in such an important match. Bianca is now in position to screw over Rhea or IYO and blame it on inexperience, if she happens to prefer facing the other one at WrestleMania. In other words, Pearce’s solution to this problem is a trainwreck. Perhaps the most likely outcome is some kind of bullshit ending where there is a No Contest after Belair is attacked by Ripley and/or SKY, leading to a triple threat match at WrestleMania. It doesn’t seem likely that the biggest women’s star in WWE will be left out of ‘Mania, and it would be equally strange to put the belt on IYO only to yank the rug out from under her a few weeks later.
Jey Uso’s confidence is shaken and he’s having doubts about beating World Heavyweight Champion GUNTHER at WrestleMania. His twin brother Jimmy showed up on Raw last week to team up with Jey, give him a pep talk, and then slap the shit out of the Ring General. Now it’s GUNTHER vs. Jimmy today on Raw. The New Day will be in action on Raw, although we don’t know who they will be up against. GM Adam Pearce said they need to start collecting some wins if they want a shot at the War Raiders’ world tag team championship. With that in mind, I bet Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods are hoping to see Akira Tozawa and Otis standing across the ring from them tonight.Match Card:
