Raw airs tonight (Apr. 7) with a live show from Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota. This is the sixth episode of Raw during the seven week build towards WrestleMania 41, which takes place on the weekend of April 19 and 20.
Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods haven’t done much to stand out ever since they kicked Big E to the curb towards the end of last year. Even so, they recently demanded to be in a title match at WrestleMania 41. GM Adam Pearce said they need to build up some wins first, and they delivered by beating New Catch Republic on last week’s episode. That’s apparently all it takes to earn a title match, because New Day is already challenging the War Raiders tonight for the world tag team championship. This is Xavier and Kofi’s chance to finally prove that they never needed Big E to be the best team in WWE. This title match largely feels disconnected from the build to WrestleMania 41, so it’s not clear what awaits the winner on the grand stage, if anything at all. Kofi and Xavier might end up stuck in an Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal (assuming WWE still plans to run that match the night before WrestleMania) if they fail to bring home the gold, so they really need to make this one count.
Women’s Intercontinental Champion Lyra Valkyria puts the title on the line tonight against Bayley, who beat the champ back in February. Lyra and Bayley are actually scheduled to team up later this week on SmackDown in a gauntlet match to determine who gets to challenge WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez at WrestleMania 41. Penta vs. Dominik Mysterio is booked on tonight’s show. Dirty Dom played a role in Penta suffering his first pin fall loss in WWE last week, so now Penta is looking to kick this little shithead’s ass as a belated birthday gift. General Manager Adam Pearce is really taking a cautious approach with Chad Gable’s doctor’s note, so he’s not letting Chad wrestle tonight in his hometown. Instead, El Grande Americano will return to action against a currently unnamed opponent.
