Raw airs tonight (May 27) with a live show from EnMarket Arena in Savannah, Georgia. This is the first episode of Raw during the three week build towards Clash at the Castle, which takes place on June 15 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Braun Strowman has not wrestled on WWE television in over one year after missing most of that time recovering from neck fusion surgery. The Monster Among Men returned to Raw during last month’s WWE Draft, and he finally steps in the ring tonight for his first match back on TV (he did beat Shinsuke Nakamura in a dark match earlier this month, for what it’s worth).

The poor sap who will be standing across the ring from Braun is JD McDonagh. JD is the lowest ranking member of The Judgment Day and is basically in the group to take ass kickings like this so that the rest of the members don’t have to. On paper, this is a huge mismatch and McDonagh is in a world of trouble. The booking here could be as simple as WWE trying to get Braun hot by letting him wreak havoc and destroy the competition like when he originally got over as a singles wrestler in late 2016 and early 2017.

Then again, there are a few people who might show up to have JD’s back tonight, like Finn Balor and Carlito. This match is happening because Braun keeps sticking his nose in Judgment Day business and thwarted Carlito’s attempt to help Balor and McDonagh win the World Tag Team Championship from Awesome Truth last week. Perhaps The Miz and R-truth will repay Braun that favor tonight if the numbers game becomes a little too much to handle.
