Raw airs tonight (Aug. 19) with a live show from Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise, Florida. This is the third episode of Raw during the four week build towards Bash in Berlin, which takes place on Aug. 31 in Germany.A six-man tag team match of Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods & Odyssey Jones vs. Karrion Kross & Authors of Pain is booked on tonight’s episode of Raw. Now that Big E is no longer an active wrestler, New Day pretty clearly needed extra manpower to deal with The Final Testament. In that sense, the arrival of Odyssey Jones should have been a very welcome development. However, it turns out that Woods doesn’t exactly share Kingston’s enthusiasm for the big man joining them in this fight.
Karrion Kross saw those subtle hints of Xavier’s unhappiness and correctly identified that this is his best chance to finally break up the New Day. While some people think Xavier is unhappy with the idea that Odyssey is here to replace Big E, Kross took it a step further by telling Xavier that he’s actually the one who Kofi is planning to replace with Jones. Xavier pushed back on Karrion’s latest attempt to create tension within the New Day by suggesting they compete in another tag team match, but Kofi did himself no favors by cutting Woods off and instead proposing his “better idea” of this six-man tag team match. You can see in the picture at the top of this post that Xavier wasn’t thrilled with that idea.
Now, if the New Day go out there tonight on Raw and win this match, and Odyssey has no issues getting along with Xavier, then this could all be a big pile of nothing. But if The Final Testicle Testament wins, or there is a significant miscommunication between Woods and Jones at some point in the fight, then it could very well lead the New Day down a one way road that ends with the group’s eventual breakup. Which direction will the New Day take now that Odyssey Jones is in the picture? You’ll have to tune into tonight’s Raw to find out.
