WWE Raw airs tonight (Sept. 30) with a live show from Ford Center in Evansville, Indiana. This is the final episode of Raw during the five week build towards Bad Blood, which takes place on Saturday night (Oct. 5) in Atlanta.
WWE Raw changed to a three hour format on the USA Network over a decade ago (in July 2012), but that era is coming to a close tonight. Raw moves back to two hours starting next week and will remain that way for at least the rest of 2024. By destroying everything in sight! That’s the kind of pure carnage I expect will happen when Braun Strowman and Bronson Reed fight each other in a Last Monster Standing match.
WWE has built up this match incredibly well in recent weeks. Strowman and Reed have broken the ring ropes, annihilated skid mark security guards, and destroyed just about every object they’ve touched backstage while brawling with each other. The rules of this match allow the big men to take the fight backstage where they can once again crush everything and everyone that gets in their way. One person to keep an eye out for is The Miz, whose match with Reed never happened last week due to Strowman’s interference. Karrion Kross is in The Miz’s ear about how underappreciated and disrespected he is in WWE of late, so the A-Lister might be on the verge of another heel turn.
CM Punk and Drew McIntyre are ending their feud with a Hell in a Cell match at Bad Blood. Punk spoke about the match two weeks ago on Raw, and Drew spoke about it on last week’s episode. Someone in WWE then came up with the crazy idea that they should both speak about it tonight. Will they do it at the same time in the ring together? Their separate promos have had a somber tone focused on blood and death, so maybe they can make things a little more uplifting this time, like agreeing on some cool decorations for the Hell in a Cell cage.
Xavier Woods is frustrated and has a strange complex where he thinks anyone who has held the WWE championship looks down on him for never winning singles gold in WWE. This impulse led him to insult Rey Mysterio last week, so now they’ll fight about it tonight. Speaking of the New Day, Kofi Kingston vs. Chad Gable is also booked on Raw. Kofi is looking for payback after Gable cost New Day their tag team match against The Creeds last week. The LWO’s Dragon Lee, Cruz Del Toro, and Joaquin Wilde are set for a six-man tag team match tonight against The Judgment Day’s Carlito, JD McDonagh, and Dominik Mysterio.
Zoey Stark vs. Lyra Valkyria is advertised for tonight’s show. Pure Fusion Collective had a hype video last week indicating that they run the women’s division on Raw, but you wouldn’t know it based on their recent losses against Natalya. Finally, new Intercontinental Champion Jey Uso will make an appearance on Raw. Sami Zayn is desperate to get a title match against World Heavyweight Champion GUNTHER, but The Ring General is having a lot of fun declining his request every week. Time is running out if Zayn hopes to get this match added to Bad Blood, which already has Triple H’s preferred number of five matches booked for the show. Sami is getting nowhere by talking to GUNTHER, so he should probably take his case to General Manager Adam Pearce instead. He wasn’t on last week’s episode of Raw, and his originally scheduled match against Rey Mysterio on tonight’s card was changed to Mysterio vs. Woods. Balor is set for a singles match against Damian Priest at Bad Blood, so in theory he should be on tonight’s go home show for a final angle with his former ally.
