SmackDown airs tonight (Oct. 18) with a live show emanating from Colonial Life Arena in Columbia, South Carolina. This is the second episode of SmackDown during the four week build towards Crown Jewel, which takes place on Nov. 2.
Kevin Owens wants to explain why he attacked Cody Rhodes outside the building after Bad Blood went off the air, but WWE is trying to silence him. According to Owens, WWE told him to not show up to work last Friday. Owens’ defied those orders and interrupted a match to try to speak his mind, but WWE cut off his mic. After that happened, KO claims he sent a video to WWE (explaining his actions at Bad Blood) to air on Raw, but they refused to show it. Raw did have plenty of time for Cody Rhodes to talk, for what it’s worth. Kevin has had enough of this treatment and says it ends tonight. Either WWE airs his video explanation during SmackDown or KO will post it himself on social media. Considering that the original incident between KO and Cody was designed to be a viral moment on the internet, perhaps WWE will go the same route here and get fans looking for KO’s video online either during SmackDown or after the show goes off the air.
Legado del Fantasma isn’t too happy with being left out of the mix lately, so they appealed to General Manager Nick Aldis to give them a title match. Aldis agreed to book Los Garza in a tag team match tonight. If they win, they will earn a shot at The Bloodline’s WWE Tag Team Championship. That sounds pretty straightforward. However, Aldis never told them which team they’d be facing. I have a feeling this situation won’t work out well for Santos Escobar’s henchmen. WWE is also promoting the debut of “MCMG” on tonight’s show. It sure looks like this will be the long-awaited WWE arrival of Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin, the Motor City Machine Guns. Jimmy Uso is back in WWE and pointed out that he’s the only one in his family who still acknowledges Roman Reigns as his Tribal Chief. The numbers game of Solo Sikoa’s Bloodline is too much for Roman and Jimmy to handle without more firepower on their side.
