SmackDown airs tonight (Dec. 6) with a live show emanating from Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota. This is the first episode of SmackDown during the nine week build towards Royal Rumble, which takes place on February 1.

The first round of the Women’s United States Championship tournament wraps up tonight with a 3-way match between Naomi, Tiffany Stratton, and Elektra Lopez. The winner moves on to face Michin in the next round. Elektra is the extreme underdog in this bout, as she rarely ever gets to wrestle in WWE. Her last SmackDown match took place way back on April 5 during WrestleMania weekend when she defeated Zelina Vega thanks to a distraction from that little shithead Dominik Mysterio. I don’t know if Elektra’s allies from Legado del Fantasma will be ringside to cheat on her behalf in this match, where she will need all the help that she can get to win. As far as Naomi and Stratton are concerned, I’d say they are about evenly matched up with each other in kayfabe. But if WWE wants babyface Michin to face a heel opponent in the next round, then Stratton has the edge. Roman Reigns and the OG Bloodline defeated Solo Sikoa’s Bloodline at War Games. WWE commentators are talking as if Solo saved face and is still the Tribal Chief because he has possession of the Ula Fala. This sounds like the setup for Roman and Solo to finally have a singles match where the winner earns the Ula Fala as well as the title of the only Tribal Chief in WWE.

Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens will fight over the belt next weekend (Dec. 14) at the return of Saturday Night’s Main Event.A mystery person attacked Jade Cargill backstage two weeks ago. It sounds like she will be out for a while, but the WWE women’s tag team titles have yet to be vacated. Tommaso Ciampa is a hot-head who is losing patience with Johnny Gargano’s more laid back approach towards regaining the WWE tag team championship from Motor City Machine Guns.
