SmackDown airs tonight (Mar. 7) with a live show emanating from Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This is the first episode of SmackDown during the seven week build towards WrestleMania 41, which takes place on the weekend of April 19 and 20.
Cody Rhodes boldly told The Rock to “go fuck yourself” at Elimination Chamber. One minute later, John Cena shocked the world by kicking Cody in the dick and finally turning heel to align with the Final Boss. It sounds like Cody now has a wild bruise, major black eye, and perhaps a busted eardrum due to the bloody beatdown that ensued after Cena sold his soul to Dwayne. We won’t have to wait much longer to see what Cody’s face looks like, as he is scheduled to appear on SmackDown tonight to respond to Cena’s disgusting actions. Cena won the men’s Elimination Chamber match and will try to break the record for the most career world titles when he challenges Rhodes for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 41. We can’t see Cena for now because he’s still filming a movie, so Rhodes will have the ring all to himself to say anything and everything that comes to mind about this phony.
Women’s United States Champion Chelsea Green is booked in a Street Fight against Michin. This match was made official last week after SmackDown went off the air when these wrestlers barged in GM Nick Aldis’ office and he was accidentally hit with a kendo stick. It’s not clear if the title is on the line or not. Jade Cargill is scheduled for an appearance tonight. Jade made her surprise return to WWE at Elimination Chamber, where she proceeded to beat the shit out of Naomi. Bianca Belair watched in dismay as her former tag partner tried to brutally injure her current tag partner. I assume this means Cargill has good reason to believe Naomi is the mystery assailant who put her on the sidelines for over three months, and she will show her evidence to Belair tonight. Randy Orton is also advertised for SmackDown after returning at Elimination Chamber. He was just one second away from punting Kevin Owens in the head to get revenge for the devastating piledriver that KO gave him back in November.
