WWE SmackDown airs tonight (Sept. 20) with a live show emanating from Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, California. This is the third episode of SmackDown during the five week build towards Bad Blood, which takes place on October 5.

Bayley and Naomi are teaming up tonight on SmackSown to take on the duo of Tiffany Stratton and WWE Women’s Champion Queen Nia Jax. There are high stakes at play in this tag team fight. If Bayley and Naomi win, the wrestler who scores the fall will move on to challenge Jax for the gold at Bad Blood. This may create a scenario where Bayley and Naomi are both reluctant to tag out of the match due to their individual ambition to fight Jax for the championship.

However, if Jax and Stratton win this tag team match, then whichever wrestler takes the fall must leave SmackDown “permanently.” General Manager Nick Aldis must be pretty desperate for ratings to approve that kind of stipulation, as he can potentially lose Bayley or Naomi off his roster without getting anyone back in return. Then again, I’m sure Aldis is very familiar with WWE programming and understands that “permanently” probably means the loser can return to SmackDown in like two or three months. Jokes aside, this stipulation creates a scenario where someone under the radar like Blair Davenport can try to make a name for herself by screwing over one of Bayley or Naomi and sending them off the SmackDown roster for good. The bottom line is that tonight could be the last time we see Bayley or Naomi on SmackDown for a while if one of them loses this match.
