Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez of Mexico and Joe Smith Jr are set to square off again on October 7th at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas in what promises to be one of the year’s most captivating cruiserweight fights. Both fighters are former world champions who will vie for another shot at glory with one winner having an indirect shot at world crown glory. Gilberto Ramirez recently suffered a devastating loss against WBA light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol in a devastating mismatch, being too slow and limited in skill to match up against Russia’s machine. To try and recover from that setback he will face Joe Smith Jr a former WBO light heavyweight champion in their next fight. Ramirez is an incredible southpaw who boasts powerful punching ability and is known to be an extremely durable and aggressive fighter. However, his career was severely compromised last year when he missed weight for his fight with Gabriel Rosado on a Golden Boy card without him and adversely affected other fights on that same card.
