WWE Raw airs tonight (Sept. 23) with a live show from Toyota Arena in Ontario, California. This is the fourth episode of Raw during the five week build towards Bad Blood, which takes place on Oct. 5 in Atlanta.
Jey Uso has been trying to win singles gold in WWE throughout 2024, and he gets another chance to accomplish that goal tonight when he challenges Bron Breakker for the Intercontinental championship. Jey earned this title match by winning a number one contender’s mini-tournament. Bron and Jey exchanged words about it last week, and things quickly escalated to violence after Jey insulted Bron’s failed football career. Bron tried to spear the shit out of Jey, but Uso pulled the trigger faster and put Bron down on the mat with authority. However, Bron got his revenge later in the show when he speared Jey out of nowhere as Jey was trying to run in for a babyface save after the main event.
Jey needs to eventually come through on his word and win a singles title in WWE, but it looks to me like he’s the underdog in this match. This is Bron’s first title defense against someone not named Sami Zayn, and it seems unlikely that the self-proclaimed badass will lose his belt so soon. On top of that, Jey has been heavily involved in trying to help Damian Priest and Rhea Ripley fight back against The Judgment Day, and that means he’s made enemies out of that entire street trash faction. All it takes is a simple run-in from that little shithead Dominik Mysterio, for example, and Jey is suddenly at a severe disadvantage against Breakker. There’s also the fact that Jey is still flirting with Rhea Ripley in kayfabe, and Rikishi is not happy at all with that story.
